Ṣẹwà Portrait

About Ṣẹwà

Nigerian-born, Toronto-based artist Ṣẹwà is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer whose music blends Afrobeat, Fuji, Jazz, R&B, Soul/Blues, and Pop into a rich, genre-defying sound. A fan once described her work as “the after-scent of rain,” capturing the emotional depth, soulfulness, and refreshing quality that defines her artistry.

In 2021, Ṣẹwà sold out her debut concert in Lagos, Nigeria, before relocating to Toronto, Canada, where she quickly established herself as a captivating live performer. She has since headlined multiple sold-out shows, including A Night with Ṣẹwà and her 2024 concert at Burdock, and most recently, another sold-out success at Lula Lounge in October 2025. Her performances are known for their emotional intensity, intricate instrumentation, and seamless fusion of African and Western musical traditions.

A graduate of Seneca College’s Independent Music Production program, Ṣẹwà has shared stages with Nigerian superstars Johnny Drille, Simi, Burna Boy, and Aṣa, and performed at major events such as Afrofest Canada, Afrovibes Festival, and Sofar Sounds. She is also an official musician with Sofar Sounds and Waveland Canada, further highlighting her presence in the Canadian live music scene.

Her album Detox explores themes of love, loss, resilience, and diasporic identity, weaving deeply personal storytelling with infectious grooves and introspective melodies. Through Detox, Ṣẹwà demonstrates her ability to bridge cultures and genres, delivering music that resonates across audiences. The album has set the stage for her Canadian tour, where she performs with her full band, establishing herself as one of Canada’s most compelling emerging voices in global music.
